Neal Fitzpatrick is a Connecticut native who holds a Bachelor of
Music degree from the Hartt School of Music, and earned a Master of
Music degree from the Yale School of Music in 1998. He studied extensiveily
with jazz great Sal Salvador and world-renowned classical guitarist
Sharon Isben. He continued his studies at Yale under another master
and innovator of the guitar, Benjamin Verdery. While at Yale he served
as Mr. Verdery's teaching assistant for one year.
His awards include the annual Applied Music Department Guitar Award
for Exellence -- a highly competitive award given at the end of each
school year at the Hartt School. He also was a reciepient of the Benjamin
Jepson Award at Yale -- an award given to a Connecticut native
who excelled while in the music program.
Mr. Fitzpatrick is an active soloist and chamber musician.
He has perfomed at diverse venues such as the Connecticut Classical Guitar
Society, the Yale Center for British Art, Sprague Hall, the Aspen
Music Festival, the Neighboorhood Music School, the Yale Guitar
Extraganza, the New York City Guitar Festival, and at Woolsey Hall
with the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. Neal is widely active in
Public Library Concert programs throughout the tri-state area.
He was also a member of the New Haven-based Audubon Ensemble
contemporary classical music group where he premiered a work for solo
Classical Guitar by composer s. Beth May.
Mr. Fitzpatick maintains a thriving private teaching studio where
he teaches both classical and jazz guitar. He also teaches at the
Community Music School in Centerbrook, CT. He has taught at the
Trinity College Lessons Program, The Jewish Community Center of
Greater New Haven, and has given private lessons in guitar at the
Neighboorhood Music School in New Haven, CT, where he was
on the faculty of the Audubon Summer Arts Program. And, he coached
the Jazz Ensemble at the Hopkins School in New Haven, CT.
